Passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on July 4, 2020, following his battle with cancer. "Baker" was born in Kalamazoo on October 28, 1947, to Margaret (Czuk) Frye. Baker graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1965 and honorably served our country for two years in the United States Army. He was a very patriotic guy and was a member of the VFW 827 and the American Legion other supporting clubs such as the Moose and the Elks. Baker retired from Ronnigan-Petter in 2008 and enjoyed both worlds of going to Florida in the winter and Michigan in the summer. As a young man, Baker played softball and bowled with his buddies. He was known for his golfing, working on projects such as his wood carvings. He had a passion for collecting things, such as stamps, beer cans, bottle openers, glass insulators, tobacco containers, and milk bottles. Baker was a jack-of-all-trades type of guy. He built or fixed anything he could get his hands on. He never let a day go by without listening to talk radio, and would drop everything at 12:06 p.m. to listen to Rush Limbaugh. Baker was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George Baker. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years, Donna Mae, as well as his children, David (Shannon) Baker, Jr. of Kalamazoo, Heather Chapman of Florida, along with his beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Alex and Dalton, his brother Phil (Ramona "Tyke") Czuk and sisters Carol Cowper and Kathy Czuk.
