David B. Hayward, a beloved member of the Scotts community, passed away on October 26, 2023, at Rose Arbor Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 22, 1935, in Scotts Michigan. David's remarkable life and enduring contributions to his family and community will always be cherished.

In his early years, David discovered an interest in farm machinery while still in high school and dedicated himself to the field for over 47 years. His dedication and passion for his work were evident as he grew within the industry. A testament to his strong work ethic was his commitment to the farm machinery business since his teenage years.

Throughout his life, David accomplished numerous achievements, each contributing to the betterment of his community. He was a proud charter member of the Pride of Scotts and co-founder of the Scotts Old Tyme Power & Equipment Association. David's commitment extended to serving as a member and Chief of the Scotts Fire Department. He also served as a President of the Kalamazoo Fire Chiefs Association and as a Pavilion Township fireman for 43 years. Additionally, he devoted eight years to the local school board.

David will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Hayward; his daughters, Deb (Tim) Miller, Julie (TJ) Hayward and his bonus daughter Cheryl VanMiddlesworth; his grandchildren: Sara (Joe) Meeks, Jessica Pease, Patty (Tyler) Robinson, Jake (Sarah) Pease, Tavion (Rebecca) Davis, Jhamil Davis, Christopher Miller, Lacey Miller; his siblings: Shirley Hudson, Dale (Jennie) Hayward, Allan (Carol) Hayward, Donna (Richard) Budden, Joyce (Russ) Guetschow and George (Eleanor) Hayward; his brother-in-law DeWayne (Lorraine) Drallette; sister-in-law Gail Rayman as well as nieces, nephews, seven great-grandchildren, and countless friends.

David is preceded in death by his daughter Mindy Hayward, his brother Clair Hayward, sister Judith Drallette. Also preceding him in death are his two brothers-in-law Theron (Lois) Rayman and David Hudson as well as his parents Donald and Marjorie Hayward.

David B. Hayward's life will be celebrated at a "Celebration of Life" event on November 1st, 2023. The service will take place at the Scotts Community Center located at 8450 South 36th Street in Scotts, MI. The ceremony will commence at 3:00 PM and conclude at 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions in David's memory can be made to The Pride of Scotts or Centrica Care Navigators.
