Died Thursday morning September 5, 2019. Darcel was born June 11, 1936 in Griffith, Indiana a son of Charles and Inez (Stack) Moffett. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 30 years coming from Munster, IN. Darcel was successful owner of a U.S. Patent. He was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; Sub-Vets, Inc.; and U.S.S. Rasher Association. Darcel was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Donald and Dean Moffett; a sister, Darlene Colby; and a grandson, Matthew. On September 27, 1991, he was united in marriage to Agnes M. (Rutkowske) Moffett who survives. Also surviving, 2 children, Bradley Moffett of Munster, IN and Dina Smack of Hammond, IN; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step children, Roberta (Jim) Paino of Indianapolis, IN and Timothy Rubarts of Decatur, MI and their families; special nephew, Larry Colby of Spooner, WI; and several other nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday, September 10th from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Visitation will be 4-8pm Monday, September 9th and one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Graveside services will be held 2 o'clock Tuesday in Fort Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the U.S.S.
