Passed away on October 30, 2018 at Willowbrook of Savoy. Age 80. Dan was born in Three Rivers Michigan September 4, 1938. He was the son of late Uroyal (John) and Harriet (Cobb) Burch. He married Jacqueline A. Moore on July 8, 1961 and she survives him. He worked as a teacher in Saginaw for 30 years, 20 at Webber Jr. and 10 at Arthur Hill High School, retiring in 1990. He belonged to State Street United Methodist Church. He was a past president of the Saginaw Education Assoc. Dan was a member of Saginaw Field and Stream Club, serving in many positions including president and the Board of Directors. Club membership also led him to many other activities including hunter safety, blackpowder shooting, and pistol safety. Dan also served Michigan Youth Hunter Education Challenge as a muzzleloading rifle instructor. He was a member and instructor of the National Muzzleloading Riffle Assoc. and the N.R.A. He held membership in Portage Masonic Lodge #340, Bay City Consistory, and Elf Khurafeh Shriners. Dan also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dan and his wife also enjoyed camping in their RV. In addition to his wife, Dan is survived by his mother Harriet Burch, Schoolcraft, his two sons and their wives, Mark (Karen) Burch, Anchorage, AK, and Roy (Connie) Burch, Champaign, IL, and two grandsons Travis and Tyler. He was predeceased by a brother Jerome. The funeral will take place at First Presbyterian Church (224 E. Cass St.), 11/3 in Schoolcraft, Michigan, officiated by Reverend Cory Blackwell, with the burial at Mt. Everest Cemetery in Kalamazoo, lunch to follow. On Sunday, 11/4 from 12-3pm Dan's life will be celebrated at an open house at State Street United Methodist Church (3617 Mackinaw St.) Memorial donations may be made to the Saginaw Field and Stream Club or a charity of the donor's choice.
