Cora Van Avery

Cora (Wiers) Van Avery, age 88, of Galesburg passed away October 15, 2017. Cora was born January 20, 1929 the daughter of George and Esther Wiers. On April 16, 1946 she married Clyde Van Avery. Surviving are their three children; Jack (Susan) Van Avery, Sallie Van Avery, and Jane (Don) Triemstra, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her brother Kenneth Wiers. Her parents, husband of 66 years and her son-in-law preceded her in death. Cora worked briefly at the Burgess Seed Company in Galesburg before she took a job with the Galesburg-Augusta Schools in the cafeteria while her children were school age. She finished her employment with Hardings Market and managed the Galesburg Sundries when Harding acquired it. No formal memorial service will be held. Avink Funeral Home
