Tom passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Alamo Nursing Home. He was born October 15, 1931, in Neon, Kentucky, the son of Sherman and Thursie (Akers) Potter. Tom served his country in the US Army. He had worked at Chrysler for 8 years, Eaton Corporation for 24 years and at Parker Hannifin for 13 years until his retirement in 1996. Tom was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr., and NCAA Basketball team the Kentucky Wildcats. On May 24, 1952 in Detroit he married Mildred "Millie" Mullins who survives. Also surviving are his children, Annie (Roger) Kruithoff and Steve (Julie) Potter both of Alamo; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessey, Brock and Nolan; great-grandchildren, Presley and Paige and sister, Phyllis Duty. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dwight "Tom" Potter and siblings, Cecil Potter, Mabel Lawson, Virgil "Joe" Potter, Elia Meade, Clifford Potter, Gracie Ruth Potter, Earl Potter, Bradley Gray Potter, Sherman Potter, Jacky Potter and Anderson Potter. Friends may visit with Tom's family from 2-4 P.M., Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 29, 2019 with Pastor Joe Shaler officiating. Burial will follow at Alamo Center Cemetery in Alamo Township. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Tom may be made to Christian Neighbors.
