78, of Galesburg, died Friday, June 8, 2018. Chuck was born September 9, 1939 in Battle Creek to Edwin and Francis (Johnson) Thomas. Chuck graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1957 and was an apprentice for Albion Tool and Die. He worked at Eaton's and Kellogg's before retiring from General Motors in 2001. Chuck loved woodworking as well as making cradles and benches for his grandchildren. He also loved hunting and fishing; a hobby he shared with his son, Charlie. He coached little league baseball and was a volunteer EMT for the Bedford Rescue Squad. Chuck married the former Patsy Hall on April 22, 1961, who survives. Also surviving are his two children Kathy Cope (Michael) and Charles Thomas, Jr. (Suzanne) as well as five grandchildren, Taelor Wedel (Aaron), Brooke Cope, Forrest Cope, Lindsay Thomas and Colin Thomas. Chuck is survived by his sister Sandy Riley. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Francis and a brother, Edwin Jr. (Bo). Visitation will be Monday, June 11, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Chuck's life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Rose Arbor Hospice.
