Charles Wendall Bowman, age 86, of Delton, MI passed away at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, June 19, 2017. He was born November 8, 1930 the son of Harold L. and Estella M. (Hepler) Bowman of Augusta, Michigan. Charles graduated in 1950 from Kellogg Agricultural High School while in school he was active in sports. A veteran, Charles served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. On June 5, 1953 he married Mary Ellen Sharp, who survives. Charles retired from Kellogg's and was a member of the twenty-five year club. He enjoyed fishing and was a Detroit Tigers fan. Charles is survived by his wife, Mary who currently resides at Thornapple Manor in Hastings, Michigan; children: Laurie, (Doug) Schneider of Augusta, Eric (Amy) Bowman of Delton, Rebecca (Dana) Beauchamp, Victoria (Bryan) Scott both of Richland and Barry (Cheryl) Bowman of Parchment; brothers: Fred (Pauline) Bowman of Battle Creek and Harold (Marie) Bowman of Ludington; a sister-in-law: Ruth Neider of Florida; an aunt: Wilma Yoder of Indiana; ten grandchildren: Jennifer (Jen Wyatt) Schneider, Harrison (Marsha) Schneider, Connie (Steve) Mollison, Karen (Nathan) Morrissey, Raymond (Megan) Beauchamp, Lena Gregg, Craig (Samantha) Gould, Jake (Katie) Bowman, Kara (Eric) Layman, and Brandon Bowman; and thirteen great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandchild: Kate Lynn Bowman. Charles's family will receive friends, Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home where his funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 23, 2017, 11:00 AM, Pastor James S. Martin, officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Glenn Arbor Hospice will be appreciated.
