Carl Alfred Hall, age 85, of Portage, MI passed away February 3, 2018 in Kalamazoo, MI. Carl was born August 31, 1932 in Layland, WV, the son of Dennis and Nezra (Adkins) Hall. From 1952-55, he served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. When released from the service, he became a Tool & Die maker. Eventually relocating to Kalamazoo with General Motors where he remained until his retirement in 1987. Carl enjoyed all sports especially NASCAR; traveling to Civil War and Old West sites. He was also an animal lover, but the most important part of his life was his family and all children. On September 2, 1956, he was united in marriage to Dolores (Edmonds) Hall, who survives. Also surviving are their five children Stephen Hall, Lee Ann VanOrman, Gregory (Kristina) Hall, James (May) Hall and Jeffrey Hall; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother Carson (Charlene) Hall; nieces, nephews and cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 brothers Bernard and John Hall. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00PM Thursday, February 8th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where a service to celebrate Carl's life will begin at 3:00PM. Following services cremation will take place and burial with full military honors in Ft. Custer National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carl's memory may be directed to a charity of your choice.
