C. Judley Wyant, age 71, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, December 8, 1945, son of the late Charles and Julie (Nee: Zemanovic) Wyant.

Jud was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, Marquette University and Marquette University Law School. On June 8, 1968 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Mary E. Foley. He practiced law in Racine for forty-one years, of which nearly twenty-five years were with his wife Mary, as Wyant Law Offices. Towards retirement Jud and Mary were proud to welcome their son Peter into their firm. He was a member of the Racine County Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin and served as chairman of the State Bar Business Law Section.

Volunteer and community service was an important part of Jud’s life. He and Mary served as Peace Corps volunteers in Afghanistan in 1970 and 1971. He was active in the Boy Scouts for many years, as a Scout in his youth, an adult leader for his sons’ troops and a board member at the district and council levels. Jud was instrumental in the merger of the Racine/Kenosha and the Milwaukee Boy Scout Councils into the tri-county Three Harbors Council, a member of the board of the Three Harbors Council, and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

Jud was a member of the Racine City Plan Commission for 34 years, from 1978 to 2013. He was a member of the Milwaukee Civil War Round Table for many years, serving as president and secretary. An active member of the Racine Rotary Club, Jud served as club president and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the St. Catherine’s High School Management Board and Foundation Board, the Racine Symphony Orchestra Board, and the Somerset Club. He was a member of St. Richard Parish, serving as chairman of the parish Administrative Services Committee.

Jud had a wide variety of interests. He was an avid horseman for many years, a hunter and an outdoorsman. A highlight in recent years was a horsepacking trip in Wyoming with his son Peter and good friend Tom Addison. Jud completed seven marathons, the first at age 53. He played softball on the Racine County Bar Association team and was an enthusiastic baseball fan. He read constantly, mainly history in general and the civil war in particular. He and Mary traveled extensively. Jud especially enjoyed whitewater rafting on several of their trips.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Mary; his children, C. Tobias “Toby” (Tran) Wyant, Mary “Molly” Wyant, Peter J. (Leah) Wyant; sisters and brother, Jeanne (Jerome) Garchek, James (Susan) Wyant, Jacalin (Kent) Sall, Jill (Robert) Hayssen, Jeanette (Kenny) Wyatt; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne Foley, Joseph (Diane) Foley; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 13, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating and Rev. Ronald Gramza concelebrating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday at the church from 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to Three Harbors Council Boy Scouts of America, St. Catherine’s High School Foundation, Inc. or St. Richard Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the family and friends who generously gave their support, and to the staffs at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Froedtert Memorial Hospital, the Villa at Lincoln Park and DaVita Dialysis for their outstanding and compassionate care.
