Bruce David Glover of Portage, Michigan passed away on September 8, 2018 while in hospice care at his home in Story Point Senior Living. He was 93. Bruce was born to Harry Glover and Sarah "Lilla" (Watt) Glover on February 17, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan and spent his young life in Hazel Park, Michigan. Bruce served in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in World War II. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1950 and began his teaching career in Brethren, Michigan. It was here that Bruce met the love of his life, Audrey Jane Fredrick, daughter of Otto August Fredrick and Daisy Ellen (Graf) Fredrick. They were married May 31, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama, MI and celebrated 66 years of marriage this past May. Teaching jobs led Bruce and Audrey to Kingsley, MI, Deckerville, MI, Harbor Beach, MI, and Denton, TX. Bruce retired in 1991 and returned to Kalamazoo, MI to spend the next 27 years. After only three short months of retirement, Bruce returned to coaching at Hackett Catholic Central High winning his first individual coaching awards and was inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother, Francis Henry Glover, and close friend and golf buddy, Arno Yurk. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Jane (Fredrick) Glover, daughters Linda Kaye (Jeff) Elson of Austin, Texas, Brenda Rae (Kirk) Leyndyke of Battle Creek, Michigan; Nancy Louise (Scott) Berry of Nine Mile Falls, Washington; and son Neil David (Amanda) Glover of Allen, Texas; eight grandchildren Kirsten Rae (Leyndyke) Agnello-Dean (Chase) Jessica Renee (Elson) Biagini (David), Travis Kirk Leyndyke (Alayna); Ryan Christopher Elson (Jessica), and Brianna Nicole (Berry) Chepin, Colton Robert Berry, Caitlyn Alexis Glover, Alexander David Glover and five great grandchildren Nicolas Biagini, Natalie Biagini, Jordan Elson, Hunter Chepin, and Layla Chepin. He is also survived by nephew, Stuart Glover, friend Dr. Edward Hartmann, as well as, many family members on his wife's side. Visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, 3-7pm. Services will be held at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 7211 Oakland Drive, on Thursday, September 13, at 10am. Bruce will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. The family has designated St. Michael Lutheran School and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan for memorial donations.
