CELEBRATORY MEMORIAL RECEPTION FOR BRANDON JONES Sat. Oct. 5. Gull Lake Country Club Greenside Grill 9725 W. Gull Lake Drive Richland, Michigan. Reception 2-5 PM. Celebration of life 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SPCA of Southwest Michigan.

Brandon Frederick Jones, age 39, passed away on July 3, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona. Brandon was born on April 10, 1980 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended Kalamazoo Central High School and graduated from Portage Central High School in 1998. Brandon was an avid hockey player during his high school years. After graduating from Full Sail University in Florida, Brandon moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked for several movie production companies, including Walden Media, Disney, Warner Brothers and Universal. He was proud of his work on several films, including Maleficent, Oz: The Great and Powerful, Into the Woods, Tomorrowland, and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. His work involved traveling numerous times to New Zealand and to Europe. When he wasn't working, Brandon enjoyed surfing in the Pacific and soaking up the California sunshine. When Brandon gave up the fast paced lifestyle of Los Angeles, he lived briefly in South Carolina before moving to Phoenix. During his time in Phoenix, he took up an interest in boxing, befriended many neighbors, was a regular at the dog park, and became his niece Maggie's favorite playmate. Brandon will be remembered for his quick wit, creativity, and quirky sense of humor. He always had a story to tell and his laughter filled up the room. Brandon is survived by his parents Nora and Jim Powell of Plainwell, MI and Martin and Phyllis Jones of Grand Rapids, MI. He is also survived by his sister Abbey Jones and brothers Scott Jones, Josh (Colleen) Powell, and Noah Powell; nieces Olivia, Maggie, Eva, Miriam, and Naomi; nephew Elijah; Uncle Fred (Maureen) Crouch, Aunt Carol (Tom) Grooms; cousins Cindy, Schelly, Ashley, and Karen; many friends including Geoff, Michelle, and Chrissy; and his forever loyal dog Sophie. A celebration of Brandon's life will be planned for later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to SPCA of Southwest Michigan (www.spcaswmich.networkforgood.com) or another charitable organization you think would best honor our Brandon.
