Bobbie Jean Hicks

Bobbie Jean Hicks passed away June 21st 2018 at Aurora St. Luke’s hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her family and friends by her side. Bobbie was born March 20th, 1951 in Starkville, Mississippi to the late Minnie B. Campbell and Nash Watts. She has many siblings on her father's side and many siblings on her mother's side.

She accepted Christ at an early age after attending church with her grandmother. Bobbie moved to Racine around 1962. She later joined Second Missionary Baptist Church in Racine with her husband Fred E. Hicks and his mother, the late, Opaline Smith and stayed a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church until she passed.

After living in various location in Racine, her mother settled at 915 Carol Street and Fred Elleston Hicks’ family stayed at 819 Carol Street. The two developed a relationship that lasted 51 years. In 1967, they had their first child and were married in 1969 . They raised 6 children, Kurtis Kodell Hicks, Keith Kayon Hicks, Kayon Kodell Hicks, Courtney Marie Tyler Hicks, Angel Naomi (Derrick) Evan and Fred Elleston Hicks, Jr.

Bobbie had 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also two God children, Roy Laws Jr. and George Nicks, Jr. A special daughter in law, Audrey Chanel Rodgers and a special niece, Shirley Gandy. Two best friends, Minnie Cotton and Melvina Scott.

She retired from Daimler Chrysler after over 3o years of service.

She ran 2 businesses, Frosty Freddy’s and House of Faith Hope and Love Adult Family Home.

She enjoyed attending Second Missionary Baptist Church with her husband and friends, Deacon Jeff and Treva McWhorter, Sylvester and Melvina Scott under the leader ship of Bishop Mark Freeman. She also loved to sing and spend time with family and friends.

Services will be held on Monday July 2nd at St. Paul Baptist Church located at 1120 Grand Ave. Racine Wisconsin 53403 with Bishop Mark Freeman eulogist. Viewing service will be from 10am-until 11am with service starting promptly at 11am.

Fred and Bobbie’s journey of love began on Carol Street right in front of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 1965. Bobbie’s celebration of life will be on the corner of Carol Street and Center Street where the Hicks Love Affair began at 819 Carol Street and 915 Carol Street where it all begun!
