Blanche C. Sweat, age 95, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Ridgewood Care Center. Blanche was born in Escanaba, MI, May 29, 1921, to Alexina and Joseph Goulet. At the age of 6 years she and her parents moved to Racine where they made their residence.

Blanche worked hard in her early years in many of the local factories and later met her husband, Claris. Her passion was caring for their home and yard, long walks with her husband, and playing cards and bingo. She had two children, daughter, Joanne Chapman (husband Jerry deceased), and a son, Claris Sweat Jr.. Blanche was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Ashley Sweat, Jacki (Larry) Kohel, Jennifer (Frank) Maletta, Jeron (Kelly) Chapman Jr. Blanche was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew Maletta. She had one sister, Dorothy Goulet and a brother Raymond Goulet who preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 3805 Kinzie Ave, Thursday, January 5, 2017, 11:30 a.m. with Rev. John Bischoff officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Thursday at the church, 10:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to ones favorite charity have been suggested.

Blanche’s family wishes to thank the staff at Ridgewood Care Center for their care and support given at this difficult time.
