Beverley J. Pier, age 82, passed away on Saturday January 28, 2017. Beverley was born in Polk County, WI, daughter of the late Royal and Adeline (nee: Grey) Hazel.

On April 11, 1953, Beverley was united in marriage William L. Pier at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she has been a longtime member. Instrumental in developing many young minds, Beverley was employed with Racine Unified for over twenty years as a teacher’s assistant, until retiring in 1996. Never losing the love of teaching, she had been recently a reading tutor. An avid gardener, she was a member of the American Hosta Society and SE Wisconsin Hosta Society. Beverley will be best remembered for her great love for growing things, her family, children in general and plants.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 63 years, William; children, Catherine (Richard) Dowdell, Stephen Pier, Janice (Sami) Youssef, Sharie (Albert) Hansen, CoCo (Scott) Miller; grandchildren, Matthew (Panya) Dowdell, Thomas (Christina) Pier, Nathan (Shin-Yee) Pier, Elissa Hill, Libbie, Lanie and Keelie Miller; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Byron Hazel, William (Cindy) Hazel; sisters, Shirley (Glen) Campbell, Lynn (Lynn) Wakefield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Theodore (Joan) Pier, Joan Petersen, James Pier; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Beverley was also preceded in death by her two sons, Daniel and Patrick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St, on Friday February 3, 2017, 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
