Isaiah 41:13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not: I will help thee. That is what He did on July 19, 2018 at Allegan County Medical Care Community where she was a resident for the last 2 years. She loved everyone there and was known for her hugs. She didn't care if you knew her or not you were going to get a hug. Betty peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior. She had attended Chicora Country Chapel as well as most recently Merson Church. Born August 22, 1930 the daughter of Thomas and Vida (Greeno) Gable in Chicago, Illinois. Betty married Gordon Kolhoff in 1947. They were blessed with two daughters. She later married Richard Hewitt. Betty had many jobs in her life including working at Perrigo, Allegan Paper Products, Dog Life, and General Electric to name a few. She and Richard also owned and operated the Card Room in Allegan for a number of years. She loved hunting and fishing and would never pass up a fish fry. She looked forward to Thanksgiving with all the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Never did she have turkey, it was always goose and duck. At Easter she would always hide eggs outside with nickels taped to them for the great-grandkids to find; that is, except the year the dog found several of them first. This was always followed by a big breakfast for all. She was a very high-spirited woman and when you met her you never forgot her. Always ready to take care of others. If you had a cold you could be sure she was going to show up with chicken soup and tell you to drink sugar water with onion soaked in it. Betty loved her family and everyone of them was special to her. She leaves behind her daughters Judy (Ted) Hillman and Marleah (Richard) Simons. Her grandchildren, Cari (Russ) Strickfaden of Allegan, MI. and Ted (Ashley) Hillman of Scottsbluff, NE., Michele (Roger) Martin of Fennville, MI, and Windy (Rick) Robinson of Hamilton, MI. In addition, she had 15 great-grandchildren, Justin Strickfaden (Hiedi), Travis Strickfaden (Valerie), Kara (Alec) Blais, Daphne Hillman, Ean Hillman, Nathan (Angie) Martin, Jessica Martin (Aaron), Allison Martin, Samatha Martin, Mathew Radke (Erica), Rickie Robinson, Laura Robinson, and Madeline Robinson. She also was blessed with the two lovely girls that Ashley brought to her family, Brooke Marghiem and Carlie Marghiem. Betty was looking forward to her first great-great-grandchild in August. Betty had one brother-in-law Bruce Kolhoff and a sister-in-law Eleanor Kolhoff. She also had two very special nephew's David (Barb) Kolhoff and Donald (Linda) Morey. Along with many other nieces and nephews that she held dear.
