Betty J. Kirsten, age 94, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Woods of Caledonia. Betty was born in Racine, May 17, 1923, daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (nee: Genthe) Boettcher.

Betty was employed by JC Penney for fifteen years, retiring in 1984. In her younger years she was actively involved with the Cub Scouts, Brownies, and the Girl Scouts. In her spare time she enjoyed line dancing, reading, crafts, and loved sharing her bakery treats with everyone.

She had a very strong faith.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Alan (Eva) Thompson of Kenosha, Cheryl (Robert) Morrison of Racine, Sandra (Martin) Simmons of Walnut, CA; her grandchildren, Michelle (Armando) Navarro of Racine, Bryan (Susana) Thompson of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Erica (Craig) Gagnon, of Atlanta, Georgia, Aimee (Stephen) Balcom of Naperville, IL, Todd (Mandy) Morrison of Yorkville, IL, Eric Simmons, Scott Simmons; her great grandchildren, Michael, Caitlin, Eric, Grace, Grant, Parker, Bailey, Oskar, Abby, Caleb, Ava, Kyle, Emma, Christian, Caleb; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Boettcher of New Berlin, WI and her husband Harold Kirsten.

Private family services for Betty will be held. Memorials to the Salvation Army, Red Cross or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

To the staff at “The Woods of Caledonia” and Allay Hospice. The love and care you gave to our mother will never be forgotten and remain in our hearts forever. We are sure she is looking down from heaven and smiling down on each one of you. Thank you!
