Bette Pearl Annis, age 92, died peacefully Friday, January 26, 2018, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Bette was born in Racine, October 11, 1925, daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret (Nee: Koska) Ptaschinski.

Bette worked as a Program Manager for the Southeastern Wisconsin Private Industry Council later known as OIC of Racine where she provided alternative education and skills training programs for poor, disadvantaged, and jobless people in the area. She retired in 1991. Bette was always around to help someone in need. She was an active attendee of Our Harmony Club in Racine the last few years and was known for her fun loving nature, her compassion and zeal for life. She was a lifelong member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church. She has touched so many lives and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Linda Somlai of Minneapolis, MN, Barbra Annis of Salem, MA, Jeanne (Dan) Jurkiewicz of Racine, Kathleen Annis Lemerand of Appleton, WI; daughter-in-law, Aija Jurkis of Racine; grandchildren, Jeno (Jaimie) Somlai, Matthew (Brie) Somlai, Jeff (Kim) Peters, Joe Peters Jamie (Ned) Bartels, Kasie (David) Lemerand, Chris (Ashley) Lemerand, Evan (Amy) Lemerand, Dana Schroeder, Laura (John) Peruzzi; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Robert Annis; son-in-law Tony Somlai; and brother Clarence “Bub” Ptaschinski.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., Friday, February 2, 2018, 12:00 P.M., Noon. With Fr. Alejando Rodriguez officiating. Relatives and friends may meet on Friday at the church 11:00 A.M until time of Mass. Memorials to Our Harmony Club, St. Patrick Church or Hospice Alliance is suggested.
