Died Sunday afternoon, February 12, 2006 at Borgess Medical Center. Beryl was born September 21, 1915 to Howard and Helen Sexton, in South Boardman, MI. The family later moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where she attended school, and was married on August 5, 1936 to Raymond Hamilton. They moved to Sioux City, Iowa in 1949. There she did volunteer work for the American Red Cross and the public schools. She worked part-time in retail, and was later employed by a life insurance agency until 1962, when the couple moved to St. Joseph, MO, to manage Monty's Paint & Wallpaper Store. In 1978 they retired and moved to Plainwell, to become the resident managers of the Mill Race Apartments. Her priorities were family, friends and her church. She enjoyed golf, bowling, travel, playing cards, and entertaining. Beryl was a member of the Plainwell First United Methodist church, served for a time on the board of trustees, and was a volunteer in the United Methodist Women's group. She served on the election board in the city of Plainwell, and had been a member of the Crestview Golf Club. She was also a member of the Otsego Chapter #169 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Dunlap of Eugene, OR, and Bonnie Townsend of Punta Gorda, FL; two children, Douglas Kent Hamilton of Nashville, TN, and Judith Rae Moore of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Steve D. Moore of Kalamazoo, and Elizabeth R. McGee (Ron) of Mendon; three step-grandchildren, Michelle Jenkins of Atlanta, GA, Kevlyn Stevenson of Bend, OR, Mark Hansen of Bend, OR; two great- grandchildren, Raena and Molly McGee of Mendon; and 7 step-great-grandchildren; 5 nephews; and former daughter-in-law, Patricia Hamilton of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; and son-in-law, John Moore. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Plainwell. Memorials may be directed to the church.
