Barry Cook

Barry Dean Cook, 56, of Elk Rapids, died Monday, June 25, 2018. He was born on March 15, 1962 in Holland, Michigan the son of Robert D. and Donna Jean (Paradis) Cook.

Barry worked in construction for both residential and commercial projects for many years. Barry said, “his best job of his life was working for 365 Outdoor in Elk Rapids doing landscaping and driving for over 5 years.”

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the Loose Wheels Motorcycle Club, playing softball as an adult and loved all sports including the Lions, Red Wings and Tigers. He loved to watch Old Western Movies, wrestling, listening to the original Classic Country Music, golfing and hunting with his father. He loved his son, Mitchell, with all his heart and spending time with his partner Cindy Edge. Barry had a huge sense of humor and was intelligent. He played board and card games with his family. Barry was a previous member of the Son’s of the AMVETS Post 114. He played Santa for many years with the Kewadin Fire Department and the Loose Wheels MC.

Barry is survived by his mother, Donna J. Paradis of Eastport; step-mother, Kay Cook of Kewadin; siblings, Bill Cook of Traverse City, Melanie White of Eastport and Michelle (Loren) Ulrich of Williamsburg; nephew, Bobby (Jessica), niece Brittany; and nephew Harrison. And five step siblings and their families living down state. He his preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Cook, son, Mitchell Cook; grandparents, Carlton and Romana Cook and Mitchell and Doris Paradis.

A celebration of his life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Elk Rapids AMVETS.
