Barbara Beers of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2023.
Barbara, a beacon of strength, dedication and love passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2023. Born to Harold and Gladys Bauer on May 13th, 1930, in Battle Creek Michigan. Barbara's early life was rooted in the heart of the Wolverine State. She was an Alumnus of Battle Creek High School, Class of 1948, and furthered her education at Michigan State University, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
In 1952, she exchanged vows with Harland Lee Beers, making the beginning of a love story that would span more than 7 decades. their early marital journey was anchored in Escanaba, Michigan, where Barbara channeled her passion for teaching as a third-grade teacher. Her prudent nature saw her save diligently, laying the foundation for their future home.
The call of family and a desire for a bigger community led them to Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was in this vibrant town that they welcomed and raised their 3 cherished children: Van, Lisa, and Brenda. While in Kalamazoo Barbara was active with the AAUW, her church, First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, enjoyed playing tennis, bridge and engaging with her many friends.
Life's ever-evolving journey took Barbara and Harland to Bonita Springs, Florida, in 1992. Here, Barbara expanded her circle of friends and indulged in her competitive nature. Whether on the tennis court, at the bridge table or playing games with her family, she played with zeal and enthusiasm. Her commitment extended beyond recreational pursuits to her church, the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. Barbara wore many hats, from volunteering at the church store to driving fellow members, and sitting on committees.
In addition to her indelible legacy, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harland: and leave behind their children: son Van (Stephanie St John), daughters Lisa Teusch, and Brenda (Tom) Visuri; sister Linda (Jerry) Aydlott: grandchildren: Christine (Billy) Yanniello, Eric Beers, Anna Beers, Jenny Beers, Ryan (Katie) Teusch, Kevin Teusch, Caraline (Scott) Brandonisio, Theresa Visuri: great-grandchildren Liam and Lincoln Yanniello; and Jane Houck Beers, the beloved mother of the Beers grandchildren
Barbara was laid to rest with her husband Harland at the First Presbyterian Memorial Gardens in Bonita Srings, FL with a private family memorial.
Her spirit, unwavering love, and commitment will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
