Audrey J. Cotter, 83, of Herscher IL. passed away July 16, 2011 at her home. She was born September 7, 1927 in Herscher to Malcom and Carrie (Carmin) Martin. Audrey married David E. Summer in June 5, 1948 and he passed December 9, 1976 then she married Richard Cotter December 17, 1982 and he passed in February 15, 2009. She was a village clerk, a village water clerk, a bookkeeper for Hendrix, Hercher Grain Co, and “The Shack” restaurant. Audrey was a member of the Herscher United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star in Chebanse, American Legion Auxilliary, and Women of the Moose. She loved to walk, travel, and work in her garden.

Mrs. Cotter is survived by her daughter Pamela Sommer of Bradley, sons Mark Sommer of Bourbonnais, and Kevin and Marina Sommer of Herscher, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, two brothers Durl and Vernon, three sisters Ester Meridith, Charlotte Meridith, and Alice Rennewanz, and one sister in law Betty Martin.

A gathering for family and friends will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 with a celebration of Audrey’s life funeral service at 10:30 at the Herscher United Methodist Church. The Rev. Scott Baird will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Herscher United Methodist Church or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
