Arthur Sportel

Arthur Sportel, age 88, went home to be with his Lord on October 28, 2018. Arthur was born October 31, 1929, in Kalamazoo, the son of Emmo and Tina (Mejeur) Sportel. On April 3, 1964 he was united in marriage to Janette (Hamminga) Sportel, who preceded him in death on May 11, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Henry E. Sportel and Garry Sportel; two sisters Henrietta Post and Ann King. Arthur was employed with Sportel Brothers and was a custodian with the Kalamazoo Christian High School prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and volunteered with Park Village Pines and the distribution of Today devotional. Surviving are his sister Berdine Flamm and several other special family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 20th at the Chapel of Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Christian School Association or Heartland Hospice.
