Miller, Arthur Arthur F. "Skip" Miller passed away peacefully on February 27, 2019 in Clermont, Florida. Skip was born on October 20, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan. Son of Francis and Margharet (Peitz) Miller he grew up in Kalamazoo. Skip graduated from State High School then Western Michigan University (1957). At WMU, Skip was an enthusiastic member of the TKE fraternity. On August 14, 1957 Skip was united in marriage to Suzanne H. Pearson, his wife of 61 years, who survives. Skip then went on to work with W.T. Grant's and Brunswick Corp. while serving in the U.S. Army Reserves in Kalamazoo. A new job opportunity led the family to Frankenmuth, MI. While never formally trained in architecture or carpentry, Skip embodied meticulous and sturdy craftsmanship and he was a natural in construction. Family, friends, and Habitat for Humanity all benefited from his helpful expertise. Eventually, Skip and Sue decided to start their own construction-related business. Florida seemed to be the best location, so in 1969 the family moved to Key Biscayne. They established Venetian Marble in Miami. Together they ran and grew the firm until selling it and moving to Central Florida in 1982. There they bought a mobile home resort and expanded it into Mouse Mountain. In 1997, they sold the park and retired to New Smyrna Beach, FL. Skip is survived by sons Christopher (Kim) Miller of Kalamazoo and Mark (Dana) Miller of Groveland, FL. Grandchildren Hunter (Adrienne) and Derek (Laura) of Indianapolis, IN, Lorin (Dan) of Buffalo, NY and Lance and Chase Miller of Groveland, Florida. Three great-grandchildren Aidan, Irving, and Josephine. Brother Larry (Phyllis) Miller of Orange City, FL. Nephew Matt (Kristi) Betts of Portage, MI, niece Julie Betts Connelly of Kalamazoo, brothers-in-law Jack (Luci) Pearson of Gun Lake, Mark (Barb) Pearson of Plainwell and Tony Pearson of Hollywood, FL. Skip was preceded in death by sister, Mary Frances Betts and grandson, Devlin Miller. Cremation has taken place with burial to occur at a later date in Kalamazoo. Contributions can be made to Mike Conley Hospice House, Clermont, Florida or Habitat for Humanity.
