Arthur was called home by his Heavenly Father on June 21, 2019 at his home in Portage, MI. He was surrounded by his family, who spent countless hours recalling the amusing and entertaining memories, as being with family is what gave life to his days. He was born February 18, 1921 in Koblenz, Germany to Arthur and Margaret (Stetenfeld) Schwerin, Sr., immigrating to the United States when he was 10 months old. For over 45 years prior to his retirement he was a regional sales manager for Reyerson Steel Company. He was a World War II veteran and served our country in the Air Force. Arthur was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, as well as a devoted father, grandfather and great grand father. His kindness and acceptance toward everyone, as well as his constant smile, cured bad moods wherever he went. On April 17, 1943, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Margaret (Noha) Schwerin, and they celebrated 70 years of true love and devotion before she preceded him in death on May 27, 2013. He was also preceded by his parents, and a son Arthur "AJ" Schwerin, III. Arthur is survived by his children, Susan (Jim) Finley, Pamela (Stan) Leitz and Mark Schwerin; a daughter-in-law Ruby Schwerin; 7 grandchildren Jason (April) Finley, Jonathon Finley, Paul (Stefanie) Leitz, Amy (Kyle) Fill, Andrew (Samantha) Leitz, Nick Schwerin, Amy Schwerin; 8 great grandchildren, Braeden Finley, Angel Schwerin, Ashlynn Leitz, Kaleb Fill, Avery Leitz, Jansen Finley, Charlotte Fill, Olivia Leitz; a sister Arlene Killmer; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place Monday July 22nd at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd., Kalamazoo, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Memorial service at Fort Custer will take place at 2:30 where Arthur will be recognized with full military honor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo. Please visit Arthur's personalized web page & guest book at http://www.langelands.com
