Ann M. Nevin, age 94, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Racine Commons. She was born in Racine, September 26, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Nee: Petersen) Shimkus.

On September 17, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Nevin who preceded her in death, October 5, 2017. In her younger years, Ann was employed by Hamilton Beach Company and was actively involved as a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Ann enjoyed gardening, golf and travel, but more than anything, she was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family.

Ann will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Susan (Chris) Anderson, Jean (John) Becker, Nancy (Dan Stroman) Nevin, all of Racine; her grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Koleske, Phillip Anderson, Hilary Becker, and Maxwell Stroman; great grandsons, Henry and Ezra Koleske; sister-in-law, Sheila Collentine, of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Joseph (Stella) Shimkus, John (Carmella) Shimkus, George (Geraldine) Shimkus, and Marie (George) Butgereit.

Private family services will be held with interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ann’s memory may be directed to the Racine Public Library.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Mark DeCheck, and the staff at Racine Commons and Hospice Alliance for all of their loving and compassionate care.
