Ann Hanselman Ihling, age 92, of Richland, MI passed away peacefully Tuesday morning May 9, 2017 following a short battle with illness. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Ann was born April 2, 1925 a daughter of Harold and Theresa (Gilligan) Hanselman. She had an ideal childhood growing up on Parkview Ave. with her beloved brother, Bud Hanselman, and her many friends. Ann was very proud of her education at Parkwood School, University High, and of course, The University of Michigan where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Her time at the University started her lifelong love for Michigan Football. She married the love of her life, Edward Ihling on June 10, 1950. Ed and her sons, Ed, Chuck, and Tom were the focus of her world. Ann was thrilled to add daughters-in-law, Sherry Oswalt Ihling and Mary Ann Fialkowski to the family, and so loved her grandsons, John and Nick Ihling. When she was not taking care of her family, she found time to help others through Service Club and Junior League. Ann also played tennis into her 80's, and played bridge with her many friends. She loved to travel, but was happiest watching birds from the deck of her lake home. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Edward and Charles; and 2 brothers, Bud and Steve. She is survived by her husband, Edward; a son, Thomas (Sherry) Ihling of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Fialkowski of California; 2 grandsons, John and Nick Ihling; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South St. Private burial will take place in Mt. Home Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Great Lakes Center for Autism Treatment and Research. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
