DeMaagd, Ann (DeNooyer) Kalamazoo Ann DeMaagd entered into the Lord's presence on November 19, 2022. Born November 2, 1917, she was the daughter of devout Christians, Jacob & Jennie (Apotheker) DeNooyer. She grew up on a celery farm with her beloved siblings, four sisters and three brothers. Ann attended a two-room schoolhouse on N. Westnedge and shared stories of helping her sisters wash the celery crop in icy water and riding to church in a horse-drawn buggy. A 1935 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, she met Clarence DeMaagd in their junior year. After working for Dr. Honey, a prominent Kalamazoo dentist for several years, she and Clarence married in 1940. She was a devoted mother to Jim and Jack. Family life centered on church and lively times with the relatives. Ann remained an active member of Heritage CRC, taught Sunday School and was still volunteering at 2nd Impressions at age 95. She adored her two grandsons, Jim & Matt, and their families and was delighted they were with her to celebrate her 105th birthday at Friendship Village. All will remember Ann for her determination, genuine warmth and, above all, her abiding faith. She leaves two grandsons, James (Lindsey) DeMaagd and Matt (Jennifer) DeMaagd; their mother Susan DeMaagd; great grandchildren, Sarah, Julia Ann, and Kade; step grandchildren Amy (Jason) Landers and Ben (Shann) Leatherman; many nieces, nephews, friends and caretakers who loved her. Preceded in death by husband, Clarence; sons, James Clarence and Jack Allen; brothers, Jerry, Jake, and John; and sisters, Jeanette Prins, Reke Oosterbaan, Mary Ten Brink, and Harriet Cook; Sister-in-law, Della (John) Molenaar); and daughter-in-law, Kay DeMaagd. A Celebration of Life will be at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 S. 11th St. on Saturday, December 10 at 11:00am. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Christian Reformed Church.
