Angie Schippers passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at the age of 93. She was born on June 5, 1927, to the late Jacob and Jennie (Van Dyk) Kuivenhoven. Angie graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1945, and married her beloved husband, Robert J. Schippers, on August 20, 1948. Angie and Bob were long term members of Heritage Christian Reformed Church. She worked as a secretary at North Christian School and Western Michigan University. Angie cherished spending time with her family and enjoyed camping, picnics and traveling to Florida and Texas. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and crocheting. Angie was a devoted follower of Jesus, and lived a live full of gratitude. Angie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert J. Schippers; siblings, Neal Kuivenhoven, Jacob Kuivenhoven, and Adrian Kuivenhoven; and granddaughter Sandra Schippers. She is survived by her children: Barb (Bob) DeBoer of Lake City, MI, Tom (Sue) Schippers of Houston, TX, Ed (Gail Weide) Schippers of Kalamazoo, MI, and Don (Kathy) Schippers of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren: Jenni Trusock, Tony DeBoer, Steve (Jennifer) Schippers, Tim Schippers, Sarah (Josh) Schelnick, Matt (Jess) Schippers, Andrew Schippers; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Connie Phillips; brother, Pete Kuivenhoven; sisters-in-law Ruth Haase, Helen Schippers, Rose Kuivenhoven and several nieces and nephews. Angie's family extends special appreciation to Estella Russell, a close friend and neighbor who would visit and help Angie. Private services will be held for Angie and Interment will take place at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Heritage Christian Reformed Church and Park Village Pines.
