Angela Jean Sirrine was born in St. Johns on December 31, 1954. She was the youngest of four children of Robert and Dorothy Jean (Osgood) Sirrine. Born and raised in St. Johns, she became an involved member of the community. She was an extremely active individual who loved to play any kind of sport and take any adventure. As a girl, she typically pushed the envelope of what girls could do then. She particularly enjoyed golf, basketball, softball, bowling and winter sports. Angie was actually the first girl to be part of the soapbox derby in St. Johns. Her siblings often described her as ‘the perfect one’. Angie typically spent her summers at Higgins Lake swimming, sailing and boating, skiing, and learning how to tie knots and other skills from her grandfather, Glenn Osgood. She had a particularly close relationship with him.

Angie followed in her parents and grandfather’s footsteps as she pursued a career in the family business. She attended Wayne State Mortuary School after graduating from St. Johns High School and Lansing Community College. Angie had an incredible gift of service, compassion, and love for others. She had aspirations of running Osgood Funeral Home and continuing the tradition started by her great-grandfather.

Angela was a determined, athletic, and adventurous woman who had an amazing attitude no matter what life entailed. She often spent time with her nieces and nephews at Higgins Lake or ‘hustled’ others on the golf course. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the late 1980’s, and although she didn’t fully know the impact it would have on her life at the time, she continued to live as normally as physically possible.

Amazing friends and family continually supported and encouraged her, although she always gave more light to others than she received. Through her trials and struggles, she always thought of others and continued to be a selfless follower of Christ. She never complained and could still laugh even if that meant being picked up and sometimes dropped by her family and friends.

Angela lived a life of faith, family, community and service. Her faith was a constant in her life, which she shared with all those who came in contact with her. She brought many individuals to know Christ through her actions and to appreciate the many blessings He has given. Angie exhibited gratefulness, generosity, selflessness, commitment to others, and ensuring that others were happy and cared for. Although she leaves family and many close friends behind, there is no doubt that her body is now restored and fulfilling Isaiah 40:31: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Angie Sirrine finally triumphed over multiple sclerosis with her death on November 29, 2015. Angela Jean was a star in every way, as a kid around the block, a soap box derby winner, a young athlete and especially in her role as a funeral director and owner of Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. Angie had a compassion unsurpassed in her professional field and it led to friends from all walks of life and all ages. As MS interfered more and more with her physical activity, her relentless will kept her a part of many others lives in the most positive of ways. For one from whom much was taken so early she remained a giver and shining star for others.Angie was born on December 31, 1954 in St. Johns. She was the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Jean (Osgood) Sirrine of St. Johns. Her parents are both gone. Angie’s brothers; John (Debbie) and Bill (Margo) Sirrine survive her as well as her sister Mary Pat (Rich) VanDam. She is also survived by many a niece and nephew who grew up with her as a wonderful example for a full life experience and a life full of experiences. Her family invites her friends to share their memories for Angie at Osgood Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 2nd . Funeral services will be held at on Thursday, December 3rd at 11am at Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. Burial will be at Union Home Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial gifts may consider additions to an endowment for the permanent good of Angie’s community at St Johns Area Community Fund, PO Box 33, St Johns MI 48879 or to a charity of your choice.
