Amy Jo Brown, age 49, of Portage, MI died unexpectedly Sunday evening April 2, 2017 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born November 17, 1967 in Lakewood, California a daughter of Donald and the late Doris (Dickinson) Brown. Amy has been blind since birth, but that has never stopped her from living life to the fullest or from joyfully serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a graduate of the Harbor Beach Community Schools. Amy graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree and then went on to complete her Master's in social work. Amy has been working at Berean Baptist Church in Portage for 14 years. She was doing family counseling, teaching Women's Sunday School Class, and leading the Women's ministry. Amy has so many wonderful friends who have helped her over the years. Especially Denise Roberts who was with her when she left this world for heaven. She also was a big Detroit Tiger fan! We want to thank all of you so much for all you have done for her all these years. She is survived by her father, Donald Brown; a sister, Susan (James) Scott; two aunts, JoAnn Will and Florence Dickinson; and a very special friend JoAnn Zang. She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Brown; and a brother, Tom Brown; and two uncles, David and Larry Dickinson. A memorial service will be held 1 o'clock Saturday, April 8th at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S. 12th St. Private burial will be held at a later date.
