Mimi passed away, peacefully, on Friday morning, August 28th, 2020 at her family home in Kalamazoo. Mimi was born, Amanda Rae Jones, on May 18th, 1981 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI, daughter of Ronald and Linda (Runyon) Jones. While her home was always in Kalamazoo, she went on to stay in Ypsilanti, Atlanta and Spain during college, lived in New York City (NYC) for 10 years across its Brooklyn and Harlem boroughs, and most recently resided in Monclair, NJ for the past two years. Mimi graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1999 before earning her Bachelor of Science from Georgia State University in 2005. Shortly after graduating college, Mimi's passion for acting and the arts led her to NYC's prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Mimi's dedication and talent paid off in 2011 when she was cast in a Nikon commercial, modeled for Essence.com and appeared in an episode of the daytime soap opera, Days of Our Lives. However, in 2010, Mimi's career interests had begun to expand past center stage when she took an opportunity at RR Donnelley's Studio 26. Beginning as a Product Styling Assistant at RR Donnelley, Mimi found herself a natural fit for the profession and proved her worth quickly. She soon began a successful freelance career working with brands such as Club Monaco, J. Crew and Ralph Lauren. The latter was so impressed, Mimi became the Product Styling Manager for Ralph Lauren's internal creative team in 2012. Mimi led her team in NYC for two years before taking an opportunity of a lifetime with YOOX Net-A-Porter Group, an Italian online fashion retailer based in Milan, Italy. Mimi worked in the Monclair, NJ office as a Senior Product Stylist and Team Lead for three years before being promoted to the United States (U.S.) Product Stylist Editor for its luxury division in 2017. Mimi was known for her loving heart, optimistic spirit and comforting warmth. She made life better whenever around and always wanted to enjoy the moment. Mimi is survived by her parents, Ronald and Linda Jones of Kalamazoo; two brothers, Tyrone Jones of Grand Rapids, MI and Elliott Jones of Jenison, MI; two nephews; and several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Private graveside services were held in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center. Please visit Mimi's personalized webpage for online guestbook or to leave a condolence. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. https://www.langelands.com
