Medlin, Allen Allen Medlin, age 86, passed away November 10, 2020. He was born January 3, 1934 in Mendon, Missouri to the late Lester and Myrtle (Anderson) Medlin. Allen grew up in Marceline Mo, where at age six, his mother passed away. His father married Lola Adair two years later and Allen always credited her for helping to make the man he later became. In high school, Allen reached the level of Eagle Scout. Upon graduation, he went to the University of Kansas, where be obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design. After discharge, he came to Kalamazoo to work at one of the paper companies. Soon, he realized that sales was the area he really wanted to be in, and as a result, he became a pharmaceutical representative. He was in the profession for over 30 years, finally retiring from Sanofi-Adventis in 1996. Allen had a busy retirement volunteering at various nonprofits in Kalamazoo, including Meals on Wheels and the First Day Shoe Fund. He also loved to travel with his wife Valerie to Europe and many places in the United States, especially Hawaii were they were lucky enough to stay an extended amount of time. When home, Allen could be seen driving his red Corvette around Kalamazoo. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Lola (Adair) Medlin; and sister, Peggy Adamson. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Valerie Denghel, his daughter Jennifer Medlin-Lloyd (Michael), son Jeff Medlin, as well as his many nieces and nephews, cousins, and good friends in Kalamazoo and around the country.
