Allen Ekola

Passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Okemos. Allen was born July 9, 1941 in Great Falls, Montana, the son of the late Frederick and Lillian Ekola. Allen honorably served his country as a career member of the US Navy where he proudly served for 21 years. Allen volunteered many hours for the Boy Scouts as well as the Lions Club. He enjoyed gardening and spending time on his porch birdwatching. Allen loved his pets but most of all cherished time spent with his family. Surviving are his 2 sons, Timothy (Marla) of Okemos and David (Denise) of Gobles; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Ekola of Napierville, IL; grandchildren, Nathan (Keli) Ekola, Ashley (Doug) MacKay, Alex, Anderson and Reagan Woods, Dallen and David Ekola, Taylor, Adam, Josh and Michael Fifer; and a great grandson, Benjamin Ekola. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; and daughter, Diana Ekola. The family met friends on Saturday, November 10, at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Interment followed in Kendall Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Westside Lions Club.
