Alex Bonar

Bonar, Alex Scott 9/1/1983 - 1/22/2021 Kalamazoo, MI Alex Scott Bonar of Kalamazoo, Michigan, formerly of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away on January 22, 2021. He was born on September 1, 1983 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Delbert Jr. and Brenda Bonar. Alex is survived by his mother and step-father, Brenda and Bob Dykhouse; brother, Tim (Alexis Lebow-Wolf) Bonar; sister, Hannah (Shane Parker) Dykhouse; his birth father, Rev. Del Bonar Jr.; step-grandparents; uncles; aunts; cousins; and friends. Alex was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and also attended Western Michigan University. He worked at the Kalamazoo Airport Standard Parking for 15 years. He will be remembered for his art, his wit, his trivia expertise, and making others laugh. He loved animals and music. He had a beautiful smile. He will be sadly missed by many. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Saturday, January 30, 2021 beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Mike Prince officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. At Alex's request cremation will follow the service. Due to current guidelines, 25 people will be allowed inside at a time and masks will be required. A memorial for Alex will also be held in the spring, time/date will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, or to the Humane Society.
