Died following a long illness Sunday, January 27, 2019 in Brian's House, Essexville. He was born February 7, 1951 in Caro the first of four children born to Dean and Doris Mae (Franklin) Karr. He married AlexSandra Ann Marie Krawciw March 6, 2004 in Plainwell. Alan graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1969. He attended Wayne State University receiving his certificate in Mortuary Science. Alan was the owner of Grace Ambulance in Saginaw. He also owned Karr Trade Service, a service embalming company, in the Kalamazoo and Saginaw areas. As a young man, Alan completed his requirements to be awarded the Eagle Scout designation. He loved flying and, at one time, was working toward earning his pilot's license. He enjoyed putting model airplanes together and flying them, watching Detroit Tiger baseball, and looking at John Deere tractors. Alan treasured his relationship with his grandfather, Ray Franklin. He also loved spending time on his grandparent's farm in Deford. Alan was a talker and would talk to anyone who would listen about Jesus and many other topics. Alan is survived by his wife, AlexSandra and their daughter Cora Beth Karr. He is also survived by his son, David Alan (Sarah) Karr of Kalamazoo from a previous marriage; grandsons: Tristan, Desmond, Grayson and Silas; mother, Doris Karr of Caro; sisters: Sharon LaPratt of Caro, Debra (Dave) Miller of Houghton Lake; brother, Kim (Melanie) Karr of Grandville; several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by AlexSandra's family, mother-in-law, Christa Krawciw of Luther; brothers-in-law: Julius Krawciw of Riley and Edgar Krawciw of Clinton Township. He is preceded in death by his father, Dean Karr; brothers-in-law: Jim LaPratt and Christoper Krawciw and his grandparents. Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. David Wilczynski of Anchor Cove Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Revive Ministries Food Bank, Brian's House Essexville or Food for the Poor. Burial will take place in the spring in Elkland Township Cemetery.
