Alan C. Sieting, Sr.

Passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 5, 2020 with his family by his side and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born August 26, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI a son of Andrew C. and Bertha Marie (Hayes) Sieting. He moved to Athens in 1949 where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Stoughton. Alan and Dorothy were married on August 19, 1950, moved to Galesburg, and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Alan worked on the family farm where he started driving cattle trucks. He later joined Graff Trucking where he remained for over 36 years before retiring. Alan was an active member of Calvary Bible Church. His family meant the world to him and he especially loved family gatherings. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, playing golf and gardening. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Bill Short; brother, Lynn Sieting; granddaughter, Robin Maxson; grandson, Douglas Tyler, Jr.; and nephew, Robbie Sieting. Alan is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; 4 children, Susan (Marty) Bair, Pamela (Douglas) Tyler, Kimberlee Lofts, and Alan (Lynea) Sieting, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Ann (Lynn) Jenkins; brothers, Gayle Sieting and Kent (Linda) Sieting; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sieting; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. when services will begin at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 with Pastors Bret Laird and Dan Johnson officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Lodi Cemetery, Orange Township, MI. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Bible Church, Vineyard Assisted Living or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
