Agnes Johnson

Agnes Hilda Johnson, age 93, lifelong resident of Portage, Michigan, passed away May 22, 2017 in Kalamazoo, MI. Agnes was born December 2, 1923 in Marion, MI. She was raised on a farm with five older brothers and one older sister by her parents Ben and Henke (Terpstra) Eisenga, who immigrated from The Netherlands. Agnes was an entrepreneur. She worked for Jim Gilmore, cleaning his office for many years and then went on to open her own cleaning business, where she cleaned offices and buildings in Kalamazoo/Portage area until she was 87 years of age. Agnes pride and joy was tending to her flowers and lawn. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving are her children: Ben (Claudia) Johnson, Doris Johnson, Hilda (Robert) Bradley, Tony (Alison) Johnson; by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; and by a granddaughter Carrie Lynn Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, May 25th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where a service to celebrate Agnes' life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 26th. Immediately following the service there will be a time of food and fellowship in the Westside Reception Center. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Agnes' memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
