Adriana Adema

Died early Friday morning, December 15, 2006, in Kalamazoo, MI. Adriana was born January 24, 1924 in Delft, The Netherlands, a daughter of Jan and Adriana (Schuil) Slierendregt. On September 5, 1945, Adriana was united in marriage with Cornelius Adema. She worked as a psychiatric nurse in The Netherlands. Upon moving to Chicago, she worked as a respiratory therapist and later became the coordinator for Mayor Daley's Office for Elder Artisans. Upon retirement she moved to Clearwater, FL, and moved to Kalamazoo in 2002. In Kalamazoo, Adriana was a member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church. Adriana was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. Surviving are: her husband of 61 years, Cornelius; 6 children, Joanne (Gerard) Horneman of St. Joseph, MI, Adriana (Robert) Persenaire of Kalamazoo, Wendy (Richard) Roon of Oak Lawn, IL, John (Toy) Adema of Green Bay, WI, Sidney (Pamela) Adema of LaGrange, IL and Robin (Joseph) Crawford of Nashville, TN; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Anna Marie Koole of Sydney, Australia and Nel (Bert) Elshout of Delft, The Netherlands; a brother in New Zealand; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00 Monday morning, December 18, 2006, at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 South 11th St., with Pastor Simon Tuin, officiating. Interment in Genesse Prairie Cemetery will follow services. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. The family requests memorials be directed to Elim Christian Services, 13020 South Central Ave, Palos Heights, IL 60463. 269-343-1508.
