Abigail Onderlinde

Abigail Marie Onderlinde of Kalamazoo passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Age 93. Abigail was born in Grand Rapids on May 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Benjamin Engbers and Artie (Schultze) Engbers. She retired from Kalamazoo Public Schools after many years of service. She was a devoted and active member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John Onderlinde; three children, Robert (Kathy) Onderlinde, Thomas (Nancy) Onderlinde and Mary (Jack) VanderMeer; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Russell Engbers, Annabelle Engbers, Arlene Engbers and Rosemary Engbers. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Len Onderlinde; and siblings, Warren Engbers, Bernard Engbers and Jocilyn Warren. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 22nd at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 23rd at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49008, with Rev. Greg Timmer officiating. Private interment will take place in West Cooper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Christian Reformed Church or Kalamazoo Christian Schools.
