John McGuire

Died Friday October 18, 2013. John was born April 16, 1952 in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Francis (Al) and Carole (Blackburn) McGuire. As a young man, John served honorably with the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident who loved Michigan and its people. John devoted the majority of his professional life to the grocery store business primarily managing multiple Town and Country Markets grocery stores throughout western Michigan. John's hobbies included spending time with his family, fishing, and volunteering (at the V.A. in Battle Creek and the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission). He was preceded in death by his father, Francis (Al). In 1971, he was united in marriage to Cathy Lee (Moore) McGuire who survives. Also surviving are two sons; Jason (Amanda) McGuire of Perth, Australia and Carter McGuire of Boston, MA; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Abby, and Shelley; and one great-grandson, Liam; his mother, Carole McGuire of Richland; three brothers, Mike McGuire of Kalamazoo, Kelly (Donna) McGuire of Calgary, Canada, Jeff (Becky) McGuire of Jasper, FL; his mother-in-law, Margie Moore of Kalamazoo; three brother-in-laws, Charlie (Deb) Moore of Kalamazoo, Wayne Moore of Climax, and Scott Moore of Chicago, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday, October 23rd from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Friends may meet the family 6-8pm Tuesday and one hour prior (starting at 12:00 PM) to the service at the chapel. Private burial will take place in Ft. Custer at a later date.
