Obituary
Donald LeRoy Ketelaar, aged 77, of Byron Center, went to his heavenly home Monday, August 6, 2007, after a lengthy battle with emphysema. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Don loved spending time with his family. He retired after 45 years from Light Metals Corp. His favorite hobbies were golfing, dancing, and camping. He was a member of the American Legion and AmVets. He was preceded in death by his son, James. Don will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Donna Jean (Homrich); children (grandchildren), Sue and Don Kaverman (Scott, Robert, Amanda), Den and Mary Ketelaar (Shannon and John Cooper, Darcy, Michael), Julie and Dennis Haney (D.J., Ashley), Mary and Carl Walker (Cassie, Derrick), Kevin and Laurie Ketelaar (McKenna, Taylor, Karlie), David and Amy Ketelaar (Marlee, Morgan); sisters, Pat Kelly, Beverly and Harold Jamison; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Thursday, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1213 - 52nd Street SE, Kentwood with Fr. Phong Pham presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Friends and relatives may meet the family at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. with a scripture service at 8:00 pm. There will also be an hour of visitation at the church Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Capital Campaign or Faith Hospice.
