Betty Dittus

Betty C. Dittus (nee Burrow), 76, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Tennova Health Care Center in Knoxville, TN. Betty was born on August 27, 1935 in Piper City, IL to the late Howard and Lena (Wilkins) Burrow. Betty married Gilbert Dittus on August 5, 1952 in Buckingham, IL. She worked for many years at Club Irwin as well as in the cafeteria at Limestone School. She was a resident in the Bonfield area her entire life until moving to Tennessee last year. She was a member of the Herscher United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking.

Betty is survived by her husband of over 50 years; Gilbert Dittus, her three daughters; Norma (Lonnie) Brown of Knoxville, TN., Vicki (Terry) Hightower of Kankakee, IL. and Diana (Terry) Braisher of Kankakee, IL., her son Howard ‘Bud’ (Sandy) Dittus of Krum, TX., seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her sister Sandra (Karron) Hartley of Kankakee, IL. and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Dawn Lee Dittus and her granddaughter Dawn Lynn Braisher.

A gathering time for friends and family will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home’s Herscher Chapel, 161 W. Myrtle St., Herscher, IL. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., also at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home’s Herscher Chapel.
