William Meyers

William J. (Bill) Meyers, age 90, of Cooper Twp., MI passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Bill was born June 14, 1924 in Cooper Twp. the son of Joseph and Blanche (VanderWeele) Meyers. He graduated from State High School and Western Michigan College. Bill was a US Army veteran serving during WWII, receiving the Bronze Battle Star and while participating in the Philippine liberation he received a second Bronze star for battle. Bill worked for KVP/Brown Co. as supervisor of the Ink Dept. and finished his career and retired from the Kalamazoo Co. Friend of the Court Office and was a life long member of the Parchment United Methodist Church having served on various boards and commitees. On October 12, 1951 Bill was united in marriage to the former Rosalyn Akins, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Joel & Nancy Meyers of Cooper Twp; daughter, Jacqueline & David Linstad of Porterfield, WI; two granddaughters, Kimberlee & Matt Rackley of Kalamazoo, Nicole & Dustin Croy of Fairbanks, AK; four great-grandchildren, Ayden, Gideon, Phoenix, Elora Rackley, William Croy. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Bill instilled his love of animals and the outdoors in his children. He enjoyed gardening and was a voracious reader. Friends are being received Friday, May 29, 2015 from 10-11 am at Parchment United Methodist Church, 225 Glendale Blvd, Parchment, MI 49004 where services will be held at 11 am.
