William (Billy) Burda, age 58, died peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at his home at the Lakeshore Adult Foster Care facility in Grawn, Michigan. He was born on June 18, 1958 to Mildred Sue Coover and John Francis Burda in Toledo, Ohio.
Billy endeared himself to others with his sense of humor and good nature. He loved to give hugs, tease and play a good joke on anyone, especially his family. He loved country music and Elvis, and singing along to his favorite songs. In his delightful imagination, Billy was always six feet tall and the number one country singer.
Billy was the youngest of six siblings and is survived by his sisters Susan Allen and Christina (Buddy) Ford, both of Lexington, Kentucky and his brother Jan Burda of Eau Claire, Michigan. Also surviving Billy are his nephew David (Kristin Sonnemann) Grams of Traverse City, nephews Jon and Jamie Mitchell of Lexington, KY, and great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Christopher Burda and sister Lynn Burda Grams.
A visitation concluding with a brief blessing will be held on Sunday, January 8 from 3:00-4:00 pm in the Gathering Place at Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City.
