William Bremer

Dr. William “Mike” Bremer, age 73, of Holland died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Holland Hospital.

Mike was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Navy serving at a naval base hospital in Texas during the Vietnam era. He was a pediatrician in Holland from 1972 – 1975, moved to Kalamazoo in 1975 where he worked for Upjohn as an executive in the clinical research area. Mike and his wife Ellie retired to Holland. He loved being on the open water where he sailed and raced on Lake Michigan for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Capozzoli.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ellie and their children: Mark and Jennifer Bremer of Chicago, Erik Bremer and Stephen Steele of Austin, TX, Holly and John Leadingham of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Max, Molly and Joe Bremer, Jonathan, Ashley and Colton Leadingham; brother: Steven and Sally Bremer of Fort Gratiot, MI; sister-in-law: Jody Stricker of Fergus Falls, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 57 West 10th Street in Holland. Sharon Rocker will be officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-9 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Mulder Chapel – Dykstra Funeral Home 188 West 32nd Street in Holland.
