Life Story / Obituary
Age 59, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Bronson Hospital from complications of pneumonia. He was born on July 30, 1956 in Cleveland, OH the son of William and Irene Wile. He lived most of his life in the Cleveland area. After attending Euclid High School, Bill was employed at a local restaurant. He came to Kalamazoo in 2000, where he was a faithful volunteer at the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons Training Center for 15 years. He was active in Special Olympics Bowling and Powerlifting.
Bill enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers, playing his lap harp, dining out, family fishing vacations and learning with his friends at Friendship Club and his special teachers John and Pamela. Outings with his friend Pam, and Music Therapy with Caitlyn were highlights of his week. For the last few weeks of his life, Bill lived at Sue’s Loving Care Adult Foster Care Home where he received excellent care.
Bill was a gentle soul with a kind spirit and a warm and inviting smile that lit up a room. For 39 years he proudly served in the Episcopal Church as an acolyte who joyfully took his responsibilities very seriously.
Bill is survived by his sister Barbara Wile, and was preceded in death by his parents. Services for Bill will be held on Saturday, January 23, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Episcopal Church, 2010 Nichols Rd, Kalamazoo, 49004, with a luncheon at the church to follow.
