Willard Almond Siewert, age 91, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, at St. Luke’s South Shore Hospital in Cudahy. He was born in Racine, May 2, 1926, son of the late Almond and Florence (Nee: Norgaard) Siewert.

Bill graduated from Washington Park High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Returning from the war he attended and graduated from Northwestern University. Bill operated Haumerson & Sons for many years. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and had served as church secretary for many years. Bill was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Racine and the Racine Fire Bells for over sixty years. Above all it was time spent with his family that he treasured most. He will be dearly missed.

Bill pursued many hobbies over the years. He had a passion for trains and reminisced about train lines that used to run through Racine. He created a large HO layout in his basement and whiled away many hours there. Bill also loved the old films from Hollywood and showed them to groups in a theater he had in his basement. You could hear him chuckle by the projector at the antics of his favorite stars. Bill and Margaret enjoyed travelling to many exotic locations. They also cherished time spent with members of their Saturday Supper Club.

Surviving are his wife Margaret (Nee: Mensior); 7 children, Nancy A. Shirk, Patricia A. Siewert, Thomas A. (Wang Pei) Siewert, Lynn (Don) Mundt, Thomas (Karen) Gavahan, Susan (Terry Casper) Gavahan, Jean Hrpcek; 6 grandchilden; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorraine Petersen; nieces, nephew, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Arline (Nee: Petersen).

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2018, 11:30 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 728 Villa St., with Reverend John Roekle officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service at the church 10:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Memorials to the Racine Fire Bells Inc. or First Evangelical Lutheran Church have been suggested.

A very special thank you to the staff at Bay Pointe at the Atrium for their loving and compassionate care.
