Age 30 of Parchment, Michigan went to be with his Lord & Savior on April 24, 2019. Wesley was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 31, 1988, the son of Stephen Vern Smith and Susan Irene (Parker) McIlvain. Wes was a 2007 graduate of Gull Lake High School and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. He was currently employed as a machine operator at Hytech Spring & Machine Corporation in Plainwell. Surviving are his parents, Stephen V. Smith (Amy Krueger) of Richland and Susan I. (Lance) McIlvain of Hastings, and his brother Blake W. Smith (Hanna Klepper) of Kalamazoo. Wesley is survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lavern & Deloris Smith, Bill & Marilyn Parker, and his cousin Amanda Smith. Wesley or Wes as he preferred, loved the outdoors, playing guitar, disc golfing, skateboarding and the company of his friends. He lived to entertain people with his never ending sense of humor and his quick wit which drew people to him. Wesley's family's made a donation to the Lieber Institute for Brain Development Research so that Wesley's passing would not be in vain. This donation will aid in the study of future understanding of depression and addiction. A service to celebrate Wesley's life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Ave, Richland, MI 49083, officiated by Rev. Shawn Raifsnider. Wesley's Celebration of Life will continue with a luncheon following the service.
