Surrounded by his loving family, Walter M. Stenavich, age 90, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI. Walter was born in Kenosha, WI, February 28, 1926, son of the late Walter and Anna (Nee: Dombrowski) Stenavich.

Walter attended Washington Park High School and was honored in Park’s Hall of Fame. During World War II, he proudly served aboard the submarines in the Pacific Theater. On June 14, 1947 at Holy Name Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Anna Roslak. He received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education from the UW-Madison. Walter was employed for many years with Racine Unified School District, last working at William Horlick High School, retiring in 1986 as Principal. He was blessed to be part of the Racine community. Activities included Boy Scouts, Veterans organizations and retired educators organizations.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Anna; his son, Walter (Cindy) Stenavich; his grandchildren, Lisa (Nate) Fuelleman, Adam (Katie) Stenavich; five great grandchildren, Jack, Hadley, Maggie, Max, and Tim; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon Stenavich, John (Carole) Roslak, Naja (William) Werner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mariann; brother, William; and great grandson, Lucas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, on Tuesday May 10, 2016, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ron Gramza officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover, Thursday May 12, 2016, 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church, Three Harbors Boy Scout Council or Racine Area Retired Educators Association Scholarship Fund have been suggested.
